This month we sat down with Stay Still, a five-piece post hardcore band that has been rehearsing at Gemini for three years. Read about how they came together, what they are working on, and how having a private lockout rehearsal studio has shaped their creative process.

How did you guys meet?
We all came together through social media or mutual acquaintances. Jose and Daisy were pulled in through Facebook, while Kellen, Ryan, and Xavier were friends of friends.
How long have you been together?
We have been together for about three years.
What genre of music would you consider yourself and who are your influences?
Our music transcends a couple of genres, but post hardcore is probably the closest fit. Some of our influences include Dance Gavin Dance, Circa Survive, The Fall of Troy, Hail the Sun, Armor for Sleep, Spiritbox, and From Indian Lakes.
What is the best advice you have been given about playing music?
Create the kind of music that you want to make and always stay humble.
What are you working on right now?
We are working on finishing up our latest single and hopefully moving on to our first EP.
Has having a lockout studio helped you?
Definitely. Having a private rehearsal space means we can practice on our own schedule without time pressure. For a five-piece band working across multiple genres and vocal styles, having consistent, uninterrupted rehearsal time makes a real difference in how we develop our sound together.
